1. Name & Position Kevin Russell Wolfe - Quartermaster/Webmaster The VFW Quartermaster plays a crucial role in managing the financial and administrative operations of the post. 2. Military Background & Service Army - E4 Mafia - 1996 to 2005 Gunner/Driver Operation Iraqi Freedom II 2003 to 2005 Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Iraq Campaign Medal, GWOT Medal 3. Connection to the VFW & Motivation I went back and forth for a while. I originally joined the Moberly VFW in 2006 and simply did not have the time nor desire to continue on. There was nothing against the Post itself, I was just not ready. I have a family I was raising, working 2 jobs, and fighting my own demons at that time. I simply wanted NOTHING to do that reminded me of the military. I finally bucked up and met Larry Lammers with POST 280. I joined Post 280 right when they were getting ready to sell the old Post building. After that I kind of lost track of where the post moved to. Then, here comes Larry again, doing what he does best, selling raffle tickets for one of the Poker runs. As we sat and visited he invited me one more time to a post meeting at our new home, the American Legion building. I started attending more meetings and honestly fell in love with what the Post was trying to get accomplished. I wanted to be a part of that. In November of 2024 Larry approached me and asked if I would become his assistant as Quartermaster. I jumped right on it. When January of this year rolled around, Larry was simply unable to attend the meetings, so I went from being the assistant to Quartermaster. I will always be thankful for Larry never giving up on me. Now I have a family that I can count on. I am a member of the American Legion Post 202, serve on several committees and subcommittees in the VFW, help with keeping the website updated, and advocate for veteran assistance. 4. Leadership & Experience I am getting ready to start my 1st fiscal year as Quartermaster. I took the initial role in January of 2025 so I am still learning how to navigate. Many say I have the "Gift of Gab”. I enjoy getting out in the community and visiting with veterans about items that are important to them. Plus, I try to make as many people laugh as I can. May not be in a politically correct manner, but hey, why be that way. It just makes it boring. 5. Goals & Vision for the Post I hope to see the VFW Post grow by leaps and bounds. Right now, our membership is about 350 strong, but only 15 to 20 members show up for meetings. I would like to have a part in changing that. I would love to see ALL members participate in some shape or form Initiatives I want to advocate for are recruiting and legislative awareness. I believe it is important for all of us to have a say in what happens in the Veteran community. We need to get the politicians to remember that WE are the collective few that made it possible for them to hold their office and they need to fight for our rights in the Capital Buildings 6. Personal Interests & Community Engagement I have two GREAT kids. My son works for a bank and my daughter works at a school. I am so very proud of them and what they have accomplished in their life. I enjoy working on classic cars and learning how to make computers work.
I try to make it to as many Veteran events as I can. It is hard, but I do not want to let my comrades down.
